Residue was a longterm project of Friedler’s, re-scripting public graffiti as intimate gestures of abstract expressionism. Photographs of details found within large-scale street art, Residue mines the traces left by anonymous artists, the attempts at covering/erasing them, and the weather’s influence on them. By getting intimate with these big surfaces, Residue is a testimony to the beauty made in the mysteries of collective creativity.
